Short Wedding Dresses

1- This dress is so carefree and summery! I love all the sweet details.
2- With a super-flattering wrap waist and that sassy lace petticoat this dress is sure to stand out!
3- The high-low cut of this dress gives more of the feel of a longer gown combined with the ease of a short dress.
4- A little work would be needed to make this dress temple-ready, but the lace work is completely lovely.
5- This simple, '50s inspired dress is absolute perfection!
6- This dress would also need some alterations to be modest, but luckily Dolly Couture will custom make any of their gowns any way you want. Lovely!

Tasteful Cakes

Weddings are wonderful, every little part of them. I love the emotions, the pomp, the party, and all the details that show exactly who the couple is and how their life will be. If forced to choose a favorite element, the Wedding Cake would be high on my list. So obviously, I'm pretty thrilled to bring you our latest cake professional.

Tammisty of Tasteful Cakes does some truly lovely work. When I found Tammisty's site (tastefulcakesandcookies.com) I combed through her picture gallery determined to see if they had the quality of workmanship that I require for my DeeLovely brides. She surpassed all my expectations. Unlike most sites featuring cakes, there were close-ups. Tammisty willingly subjected her fondant work to scrutiny for good reason- it is exquisite! Of her company Tammisty says, "I have always loved weddings, since I was little. I got into decorating cakes quite sometime ago and a few years ago decided it would be fun to start my own business. I have loved it. I enjoy baking. But my favorite part is the decorating. I specialize in fondant and sugar flowers, but I can pretty much do anything. I pride myself on my professionalism." To top that off she offers a huge selection of cake, filling, and icing options to create an edible piece of art as unique as the bride and groom.

"My cakes are so moist and yummy! :) I have been told many times that my cakes are the best that my customers have ever tasted. I make my fondant from scratch and it is really delicious. My cakes are not only yummy, but they are sturdy (put together well), and professionally decorated to the last detail."

Today I'm excited to offer the very first DeeLovely Day exclusive deal. Tammisty has generously offered a $40 discount on any cake order over $250 to all of you, my DeeLovely Day brides. All you have to do is mention this blog when requesting a quote.

Don't forget to check out Tasteful Cakes and Cookies for more examples of Tammisty's beautiful work!

Sergio Diez- Featured Photographer

Sergio Diez of Diez Photography is fantastic. I stumbled onto his site recently and was thrilled with what I found. Every shot was flawless- emotional yet polished and each was edited so perfectly that they could have all come straight out of the best Wedding magazines around. After I contacted him Sergio informed me that he was born and raised in Madrid, Spain where he eventually studied photography for two years with some of the most recognized and prize winning photographers in Spain. This can be the only explanation for the level of professionalism is his work. He is of an echelon of talent rarely matched, and one basically never available for the amazing prices he charges.

Sergio says "The motto of Diez Photography is ¨turning moments into memories¨. My whole purpose when taking pictures is to make sure each couple's special moments and details of their special day are captured. I would describe my personal style as classy and contemporary but at the same time I am versatile. I do both posed and photojournalistic photography. It is important to me that the couple's personality shine through their photographs - after all we are telling their story. So I try to adapt my photography to match each couple." He manages the adaptation impeccably! Throughout his portfolio you'll find styles ranging from classic, to playful, to high fashion and everything in between.

Here are a few samples of his work for you to enjoy...

Now didn't that make you feel a little happier? Make sure to check out his site for more!

The Wedding Festival 2010

Bridal fairs are a blast. Trust me, I know. I've been married for nearly a year and a half and I still get the urge to go to every one that I see an ad for. First off, everyone there is either sporting that "about to get married" glow or is that particularly lovely breed of human whose job is to make dream days a reality. Beyond that, we all love one stop shopping and these shows help you do weeks worth of research in a matter of hours. You'll find vendors of every kind including some you hadn't expected but might fall in love with (for example I once found a lady who made bouquets and boutonnieres out of buttons. Fantastic.) and many offer special discounts to Brides who found them or booked them at a Bridal fair.

The Wedding Festival is taking place this year on January 29th and 30th at The South Towne Expo Center in Sandy. I was at the Wedding Festival last year and I have to say it was amazing. This is the largest wedding show in the state and the list of vendors is impressive. The show includes five fashion shows and tons of giveaways and drawings. In addition to all that loveliness- Brides who preregister online or with one of the Free Bride Passes (which you can pick up at Smith's) get in completely FREE and can be entered to win a free honeymoon from Get Away Today as well as all the wonderful prizes from the show itself. Check out all the details of the show here and maybe I'll see you at The Wedding Festival!

Pink and Green Inspiration Board

Pink and green are gorgeous, happy colors. They always feel fresh and make an excellent color pallet for a Spring or Summer wedding. Doesn't this inspiration board make you think about sherbet and sunshine just a little bit? Exactly what we need here in dreary January! Enjoy!

click the numbers on the description below to see where these images are found

1. Love the juxtaposition of the oh-so-classy damask with the fun, funky lime and hot pink
2. Orchids, lilies, and roses. LOVELY.
3. These handmade cake serves would make such a fun keepsake. You might be able to diy this project as well.
4. The limes in the bottom of these centerpieces make a look that's very unique. The link actually takes you to a tutorial so you can make these yourself.
5. Modest, fun, and definitely something your bridesmaids could wear again.
6. Pink and Green lollipops stuck in a white sand filled vase. You could have these as centerpieces or on a candy bar.
7. This cake is fantastic! I love that it incorporates multiple shades of pink so nicely and there's something super cute about the way the layers twist on the way up. DeeLovely indeed!

A Selection of Slim Silhouettes

Here's a group of slim silhouetted designs. All three are totally different, yet all are totally gorgeous!

I'm not usually a huge fan of lace, but here it really works. Love the graceful train and that super flattering gathering at the waist.

The Greek goddess look will never go out of style. As a bonus, you can use this style to hide a variety of body flaws- everything from a bit of tummy to a big rib cage to pokey hip bones. Find this gem here.

Just because you want a slim cut doesn't mean you have to give up the glam look. Get all the bling of a princess dress without the hoop skirt in this beauty. I'm especially fond of the beautiful beading and that classy sweetheart neckline.

So glad that stylish temple-appropriate dresses are becoming much less difficult to come by!
